Exclusive Semi-Sweeties Tutorial
#1: Easy to Make Asparagus

Hello fellow sweets! :)

This is the first of a series of tutorial based on your suggestions. This one was suggested by :iconsonickingscrewdriver:

I hope you will enjoy yourselves; feel free to comment. If you want to send me suggestions for more tutorials, I will be happy to take them into consideration.

For this project, you will need:

UPDATE: I said it was LEAF GREEN you needed, but it was a mistake, it is MOSS GREEN that you need, I'm sorry about that...

-MOSS Green Sculpey clay (note that you can use any clay you want, I’m just working with this one as for now)
-Translucent Sculpey clay (or other)
-A razor blade, or anything sharp you’re comfortable working with
-Brown chalk pastel
-An old paintbrush (to use with the pastel)

Keep in mind that you do not need much clay to make asparagus.

Step 1)
Mix 1 part of Leaf Green clay with 1/3 part of Translucent clay until you have them blended completely making it only one color.

Step 2)
Roll on a clean surface until you have a rather thin tube of clay, don’t cut the tip of it as you want it to be slightly rounder. Cut the clay about 1” (2,5cm); you can do that as many time as you want, depend on the number of asparagus you want to make, of course. ^^

Step 3)
I cut a bigger “asparagus” so it shows better what to do (the right sized one was too small to get the detail of what I did clearly). So, with the blade of your choice (I personally prefer to work with a razor blade as it is mode precise), you cut the clay sideways a bit so you have what you see on the picture. You cut more on top of the clay, and a few times along the tube.
I just don’t know how to explain it in English…hope the picture is understandable enough…

Step 4)
This is a picture of the asparagus at its right size.

Step 5)
You have to be delicate for that one! Scrape a bit of brown chalk pastel and, with your old paintbrush, dab the “leaves” of the asparagus. You don’t want to dab too roughly or else it will ruin all your hard work.

Step 6)
Time to bake your asparagus! :D Make sure you read the instructions of your clay well, not every clay cures at the same temperature for the same period of time. Sculpey cures at 275F for 15 minutes max.

Step 7)
This is the final result! :D

I hope you had fun, I sure did! ^^
